FET Success Story!!

Bob & Heidi - Due November 1, 2003

Well Ladies I guess this would be me .......... I was married in October of 2000 to Bob and we had talked about children before we were ever married. I knew Bob had a strong desire to have a child. But he knew I had my tubes tied. He was content knowing we would try, but might never be able to have a baby. I however was determined. I knew how fertile I was before I had 5 children and in between 4 mc's. So getting pregnant was not an issue for me. I figured all we had to do was get the tubal reversed and we would be pregnant right away. Well in March of 2001, we did research and found a specialist in reversals in Tennesee. I flew down, had the surgery and returned home anxious to get on our way towards pg. We tried for 6 months with no success, so I contaced a doc and asked for a test called an HSG, that would put die through the tubes and let us know if the reversal worked. The test showed one tube open and one blocked, but the doc thought we should keep trying for 6 more months. So we did ....... that very same month we got pg, but it was an eptopic. We continued to try again for 4 more months and nothing happened. I called an RE and got right in, they ran tests and came to find out that yes I had one open tube, but the ovary on that side was not working. The ovary on the other side was working great, but the tube was blocked. He said our only real chance was ivf. Well then came the money hurdles ....... we got every loan and credit card we could and came up with the money and we did our first IVF. We had incredible results and ended up with 8 beautiful embryo's all 8 celled and grade A's which is just unheard of. We knew it was meant to be and were so excited. We transferred three of these embryos and the doc warned us we had a very high chance for triplets. We waited the two weeks and the day before my beta test I began to bleed ......... it was over. We had three perfect embryos but nothing took. I was just devastated. We did have five embryos frozen so our next step was FET. We went through all the meds and shots again and transferred 3 8 cell embryos again. Only this time the news was much different. :) We are now  8 months pregnant with one beautiful lil baby BOY!!!!!! We have decided to name our son, Caleb Wade... So far all is well, except just recently I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes, and have to take insulin injections!!!!!! Caleb is going to be a big baby!!

I hope this is an inspiration to you ........ do not give up!!!!!! God has a plan and you are a aprt of that plan! It may not happen the way or the time you think it should but if you allow him to be in control the blessings are overwhelming!!!!!!

IVF Cycle #1 Success Story!

Brian and Dayna - Boy/Girl Twins: Due - October 14, 2003

Hi ladies, my Name is Dayna, I'm 28 years old and my husband Brian is 30 years old. We got married in October 1998 after a long 11 year relationship as "highschool sweathearts". We too knew right off that we wanted children. Yes, we were still pretty young and thought nothing of it. We actually waited a year and decided to start "trying".  Ironically, during our time of trying, I would never get periods so I went directly to an infertility specialist whom told me I have Polycystic Ovarian Syndrom (PCOS). We had only been trying for maybe 2 months. Well, having this condition allowed me to jump right into infertility instead of waiting out that dreaded 1 year of "trying". Our first month consisted of 100 mg of Clomid for 5 days. We opted to have timed intercouse and rathered not have the "technical" stuff involved, i.e. artificial inseminations. Well, we did our timed intercouse and low and behold, WE WERE PREGNANT, the first try on clomid! We were thrilled. We had a very healthy and happy 9 months and a very healthy and happy 2 year old little boy named Bryce!!

9 months went by since Bryce's birth and I was trying to lose weight and decided to go off the "pill" thinking it was causing me excess weight. Well, I sorda got pregnant on my own. I had no idea I was pregnant until I was 9 weeks and noticed my stomach was growing. Unfortunately, that pregnancy ended as a "blightened Ovum". Although this pregnancy was a mistake, for some reason it struck a nerve and made us want to try to get pregnant again. We waited our 3 months and went to see our Reproductive Doctor at Kasier again. We did 4 cycles of Clomd........ no pregnacy, then we did an HSG, tubes were great, moved on to Clomid and Repronex with IUI's and BAM, got pregnant!!! We went to our 7 weeks ultrasound expecting to see twins or more and low and behold, there was no baby to be found. They performed a D & C and still found no fetal tissue, so it was assumed it was an ectopic pregnancy and my body disolved the tissue. So, we waited our 3 months and started again, this time we skipped Clomid and went to straight Repronex with IUI's. Had a great cycle and had early bleeding with no pregnancy.

At this point, this was in November of 2002. We decieded we were sick of dealing with Kaiser and all the small stuff and wanted to go directly to IVF. I found a terrific doctor whom acutally had been my RE when I conceived my son. He works for Huntington Reproductive Centers in Pasadena. His name is Dr. Bradford Kolb. They have a wonderful website called Havingbabies.com. Anyhow, we met with him and he was very optimistic that I had a great chance of IVF being successful. We chose to try just 1 cycle as our funds were low and we didn't want to get in debt over it all since we did have 1 child. We began treatment December 30, 2002. In mid-January they retrieved 10 eggs from me, 7 of which fertalized and only 4 of those fertalized were "fragmented" free. All the remaining embies had fragmentation which tend to be the embryo's that implant but lead to miscarriage or not healthy babies. So, out of the 4 embies, we chose to transfer 3 of them: 2- 8 cells grade 4 and 1- 6 cell grade 3. The 4th emby was a 6 cell grade 3 but we chose to dispose of it as freezing 1 was a waste of time and money. I stayed in bed for 3 full days after my transfer and prayed alot and talked to my embies, the two week waiting went by so fast and I went to my doctor's office on February 4, 2003 and my first BETA was 510!! Yipee we were VERY VERY pregnant!! My second BETA 1 week later was 5870!! At that point they wanted to do an ultrasound. I went in at my 6 week gestation point and there THEY were, my 2 little babies, heartbeats and all!! I'm now 34 weeks and my babies are WONDERFUL! We have found out that they are a boy (Easton Ryan) and a girl (Avery Grace) and they should be here soon!!! They are thriving and are the same size and just doing wonderfully. It's never easy as I've been diagnosed with Placenta Previa, but know that this is the least of my worries and that the Placenta will work it's way up in time. I'm pregnant and feeling sooooo good!! My RE got me pregnant with Bryce and now with my twins! He's 3 for 3!! We got rid of Kaiser  and now have PPO and I've graduted my from my RE's offices and have a wonderful OBGYN!!

Ladies, I know the road is tough, for some the happiness may never come, but for others it will. Just hang on to your hopes and know when you've had enough. I know that I was only gonna do 1 cycle of IVF, I knew I had a child and knew that I had to dedicate the rest of my life to him and not to the many, many different doctor's appointments. Knowing when enough is enough is key in all of this. Know that you've done all that you can taking this extreme measure of doing IVF and know that if it's meant to be, it will!! Hang on to your dreams and hang on to your life you have! Enjoy life!!

All my best,

Dayna
